Dear Parent/carers,

Please find attached a letter from Ofqual outfling how GCSE grades will be calculated this year. As you will be aware all public examinations have been cancelled therefore the DfE and Ofqual have been working to develop a procedure for awarding grades that does not disadvantage any child due to take an examinations this summer.

As per the guidance from Ofqual, the school will not be able to release any details to parents, carers or pupils about the 'most likely grade' they submit to the exam board for a pupil. Therefore to avoid any awkward conversations we would ask you to trust our professional judgement and that you refrain from questioning teachers, they will not be able to share information as this will compromise the security of a nationwide system.

Kind regards,

Kirsty Jones

Or, if:

Then you should follow the shielding advice which is set out in very helpful detail, including how to register for extra services from the government.

An update on school opening:

Dear parents/carers,

The school and PRU are currently open to agreed pupils only where the parents’ work is crucial to the COVID 19 response. We may require proof of this status. A skeleton staff will be on site to provide child care for a very limited number of pupils. To keep staffing ratios safe, we cannot accommodate additional pupils without prior agreement. Thank you again for your continued support and cooperation during this difficult period.

Yours sincerely,

K Jones (Interim Executive Principal)

A message about free school meals

Does your child usually receive a free school meal?

During these difficult times, Shaw Education Trust will be providing parents/carers with a £20 food voucher per week for any students that are eligible for free school meals and who are not currently in attendance at one of our schools or school hubs.

We have identified those who are eligible and will distribute the vouchers on a weekly basis via email, starting Friday 27th March.

Following feedback from school staff, the shops chosen to participate are ASDA and Tesco. Please note that the vouchers will only be valid for use in these stores.

For more information, please contact the school directly or visit: www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-free-school-meals-guidance
